Lariot Life 12 May

Another gorgeous day on the farm.

We did some more digging in the veggie patch first thing, then went to watch the EDF guys repairing the cable.  On the way down the drive we spotted a couple of Bee Orchids, which will look stunning when the flowers are fully out.  So far this year we know we have seen on our land the Common Purple Orchid, the Lesser Butterfly Orchid and the Bee Orchid, and we think we may have had a Fly Orchid, but this one had gone over before we saw it.

Most of the rest of the day was spent moving some seasoned wood from the logpile under cover and then bringing fresh wood up from the woods to replace it.  We put a log fire in during March so we haven't used it through a winter yet but as it will be our primary source of heating so we want to make sure that we have enough seasoned wood to keep it going.  Unfortunately only time will tell.

I also had the misfortune to need to talk to Royal Mail about their service.  I found out that a letter is not considered lost until 15 working days after posting, you can't talk to your local sorting office and that their call centre is staffed by very rude people.  I had thought that good customer service was a hallmark of UK firms, but obviously not Royal Mail.  Their failure to deliver the post reliably is compounded by their 'whatever' attitude.  If only there was another way to send post to the UK.
